Privacy Policy

CulturaMiniteka / CMTK Radio, a not-for-profit documentary project devoted to the memory of the miniteca movement (1967–1999), based in Orlando, Florida (USA).

• Newsletter. Your email address, and nothing else, to send you news from the Archive, the radio and the events. The basis is your consent: you sign yourself up, and every mailing carries an unsubscribe link. (Newsletter sending switches on together with the project's mailbox; until then the form stores nothing.)
• Contact form and contributions to the Archive. Name, email, subject, message and up to five attached files (10 MB each at most). They arrive as an email in our mailbox. We use them to reply to you and, when you send us photographs, audio or historical documents, to document the Archive with the credit we agree with you.
• Automatic technical data. IP address, browser or device type, pages visited and errors. Servers generate these simply by serving the page; we use them to keep the site standing and to protect it from abuse.
• Audience statistics (Google Analytics). Which pages are viewed, for how long, from which approximate country and city, on which device, and from which search engine or link the visit arrived. Google truncates your IP address before storing it, so the measurement identifies the journey rather than you. It serves the one thing an archive needs to know: which part of this history people care about, so we keep documenting there. The basis is our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the Archive; you may object through Google's opt-out add-on or by turning on “Do Not Track” in your browser.
• What we do NOT collect: payment details, identity documents, precise location, contact lists, or sensitive categories (health, religion, political views, ethnic origin, sex life).

The site stores four things in your browser's storage, so the experience doesn't reset at every step: your equaliser settings (cmtk-eq), the chosen look of the player (cmtk-skin), whether you have already seen the intro (cmtk-intro-vista) and whether we have already shown you the app notice (cmtk-popup-app).

Those values stay in your browser, never travel to our servers and disappear when you clear the site's data.

Beyond those four, Google Analytics leaves cookies of its own (_ga and _ga_*) to recognise that two pages were seen by the same person on the same visit, and not count you twice. They expire after two years and are cleared like any other. We use no advertising cookies and no social media tracking pixels.

• There is no sign-up and no accounts. The app asks you for no email, no name and no personal data to work, and it includes no advertising and no analytics tools.
• Microphone (Android). It is used exclusively so the console's visualiser —the subwoofer, the VU meter and the line arrays— moves with the music that is playing. The audio is analysed on the spot, inside your phone: it is not recorded, not stored and never sent to any server. If you deny the permission, the radio keeps playing just the same.
• Notifications and reminders. Show reminders are created and stored on your own device. We do not know which shows you marked.
• Streaming connection. When you hit play, your device connects to the broadcast server just like any radio player, and that server sees your IP address (see the next section).
• The “Explore” section. It opens culturaminiteka.com inside the app; this same policy applies there.
• Distribution. Google Play collects its own download and installation data under Google's policies, which we do not control.

We do not sell, rent or hand over your data to anyone for commercial purposes. Only the providers that keep the project running are involved, each with access to the bare minimum:

• Broadcast server (AzuraCast hosted on Streamerr): it receives the IP address of whoever is listening, as any streaming server does.
• Email provider for the culturaminiteka.com domain: it hosts the mailbox where form messages arrive.
• Web hosting provider ⟦ to be confirmed: Vercel Inc. ⟧: it serves the pages and keeps the technical logs.
• YouTube (Google) in the embedded videos: we use the cookie-free mode (youtube-nocookie.com), but if you hit play, Google receives data under its own privacy policy.
• Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd.): it receives the browsing data described above in order to build the audience statistics. We have not enabled advertising features or data sharing with Google's advertising products.
• Authorities, only where a legal obligation requires it.

• Newsletter: your email is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
• Form messages: for as long as they are needed to reply to you. If you donated historical material, we keep the message as a record of its provenance and of the agreed credit — that is what lets the Archive credit properly whoever contributed each piece. You can ask us to delete it.
• Technical logs: for the period set by our hosting provider.

By writing to contacto@culturaminiteka.com you can ask us, free of charge and without giving reasons: to know what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to object to our using it, to receive a copy, to withdraw your consent or to unsubscribe from the newsletter. We reply within a reasonable time and, in any case, within ⟦ 30 days ⟧.

We handle those requests wherever you write from. If you live in California, note that we do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, and that exercising your rights will never mean worse treatment. If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, we process your data on the basis of your consent (newsletter) or of the legitimate interest in answering your messages and keeping the site secure, and you may complain to your country's data protection authority. In Brazil (LGPD), Canada (PIPEDA) and Venezuela (the constitutional right of habeas data) equivalent rights apply.

The site and the app are not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a minor sent us their data, write to us and we will delete it.

The project operates from the United States and its providers are mainly there. If you write to us from another country, your information travels to servers in the United States, whose data protection law may differ from that of your country.

The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), the mailbox is protected with its own credentials and access to the messages is limited to the people running the project. Even so, no system is infallible: we cannot guarantee absolute security, and that is why we do not ask you for —and you should not send us— financial or identity data.

We link to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and to the pages of event organisers and allied channels. What they do with your data is governed by their own policies, not by this one.

If anything changes, we update the date in the header and, when the change is significant, we announce it on the site. The version in force is always the one published on this page.
