The movement
More than nostalgia,
this is history. It's legacy!
January 1967, Caracas: Víctor Morín gives the future its name with Los Muertos Andantes — a sound system built into wooden coffins, black lamps and a tube amplifier. That is how the word “miniteca” is born.
Around those same years La Caravana was on the road, a faithful replica of a wild-west wagon turned mobile discotheque, the first to give the sound a visual concept. Which of the two came first is still debated, and we do not treat it as settled: both are the movement's forerunners in Venezuela.
Out of that comes a phenomenon of its own — mobile discotheques with an identity, lights, jingles and discjockeys who became legends.
