Allies On Air

Miniteca culture did not only grow on dance floors and in the streets; it also found a powerful loudspeaker in radio and television. Shows such as Disco Fiebre on VTV, hosted by Marco Antonio “Musiuito” Lacavalerie, Tropa de Vacaciones on RCTV and many others became strategic allies that carried this music, its look and its energy to the furthest corner of the country.

Those broadcasts opened their doors to discjockeys, minitecas and producers, giving them visibility and standing before a mass audience. They did not only spread sounds and mixes: they told the living history of a movement that joined technology, invention and popular culture. Thanks to them, the essence of mobile power and its festive spirit crossed local borders to become part of the national collective memory.
