El Noticiero Compacto

Adolfo Martínez Alcalá hosted for years “El Noticiero Compacto Radio Capital,” the news slot of the 710 AM station of Caracas. The program had two sections of its own: “La Mancheta Capital” and “Media Cuartilla Editorial.”

Radio Capital 710 had gone on the air on September 23, 1968 as the first Venezuelan station aimed at a young audience. With the arrival of FM in the nineties it turned toward news and opinion content, and that is where its newscast — and its host — come to the foreground.

What is on record and what is not

His program belongs to the news stage of the station, not to the musical, youth-facing one that connects directly with the miniteca movement. There is no record that he had any relationship with the minitecas or with the organization of their events, and the Archive does not attribute one to him.

Nor are the years the newscast was on the air on record, nor his earlier career, nor any biographical data.

A gap this entry points out

Radio Capital organized the first Guerra de Minitecas at the Poliedro, but not one announcer from its musical stage has been identified, nor a single youth program of the station. Between 1968 and 1979 not one documented fact of its programming is on record.

It is one of the Archive's major gaps. If you have recordings, schedules, clippings or testimonies from that stage of Radio Capital, they are taken in with credit.
