A television showcase for mobile sound

The magazine, reviewing the slots that television devoted to the minitecas, mentions that “en televisión la Linoteca y Arriba Juventud” were spreading the phenomenon of mobile sound. Arriba Juventud is thus recorded as one of the TV shows that served as a showcase for the minitecas, in the same line as La Linoteca (RCTV) and La Musiteca.

The frames that illustrate this entry today provide the first visual evidence: the RCTV lion logo on screen confirms the channel, and the title card fixes the slot's visual identity — orange and yellow letters of urban stroke over a blue background.

Who hosted it

Camila Canabal appears on the set; her professional biography includes “Arriba Juventud” among the shows she hosted at RCTV. The presenter had made her debut at the channel on October 7, 1997 with “Tropa de Vacaciones” —the slot this collection also documents, and in which the minitecas Eruption, Platinium and Kiss Line set up their booths in the studio— before going on to “De Boca en Boca,” “Triple Gordo” and “Aprieta y Gana.”

The host who appears alongside her in the photograph is not identified: none of the sources consulted names the co-host of “Arriba Juventud,” and the image carries no on-screen caption. Putting a name to him remains pending.

Note on the show's identity (possible namesake)

The index of RCTV shows records a contest slot titled Arriba Juventud broadcast in 1999, described as a continuation —or retitled reissue— of the show Viva la Juventud from the end of the 1970s. It is not confirmed that this RCTV game show is the same Arriba Juventud that the magazine cites as a showcase of minitecas: it could be the same title at a different stage or a namesake slot. Out of respect for the rule of not inventing, the two references are not unified: the coincidence of name and the possibility that they are the same show are placed on record, without asserting it. Its placement in time is left open (80s/90s): the magazine's mention associates it with the era of the minitecas on TV (the 80s, alongside La Linoteca), while the RCTV record dates it to 1999.
