In search of the sound of Black Queen

Origins

Black Queen was born on 9 August 1981 as an answer to a musical need in Ciudad Bolívar. According to its founder's account, it grew quickly to cover the city's demand and came to compete with the best minitecas in the area, until it stood among the most sought-after in the southeast of the country.

Weddings, birthdays, celebrations and anniversaries sought out its musical project: the effects and the mixes that set it apart within the circuit of Bolívar minitecas. In those years it traveled, according to its creator, every district and municipality of the state of Bolívar, taking on numerous challenges from the so-called guerras de minitecas, the sound clashes of the movement.

Recognition

Juan Yane himself credits Black Queen with a series of awards won over its career — distinctions that come solely from the protagonist's account and could not be corroborated in independent documentary sources; they remain pending documentary verification:

· Premio de Independencia

The equipment

In the period described in the magazine, Black Queen was made up of a sound and lighting rig of considerable scale:

· 40 lows, 40 mids and 20 highs
· 60 updated lighting sets
· Smoke machines
· 3 trucks to move the equipment
· 1 office of its own for handling contracts

Legacy

At the time of the account, the miniteca was still active, “reaping successes,” in the hands of its creator and sole owner, the teacher Juan Yane. Black Queen appears in the magazine within the group of Ciudad Bolívar minitecas of the eighties, alongside Hot Way, Scooby Doo, Roseland and Holiday.
