Beginnings and rise
Alfredo Mena was born in Caracas, Venezuela. At fifteen he began his career as a discjockey (now DJ) in the prestigious mobile miniteca “The New York People,” in the 90s. There he gained popularity mixing with three simultaneous MK2 turntables, an uncommon technique that let him stand out among his contemporaries.
That command of live mixing cemented his reputation as one of the most talented DJs in the country. He was later resident DJ of the radio program “De Rumba 94” on Hot 94, where he fused deep Latin grooves with classic melodies of the 90s, winning over dance floor and audiences alike.
From deejay to producer
In time, Alfredo evolved musically toward production. His sound caught the attention of respected European labels such as Viva Music, Meridia Recordings, Remedy Records, Groove On, SL Recordings and Bonzai Basiks, where he released work that opened international doors for him.
