The skyline crew
New York People was founded in Caracas in 1982 by Massimo Coletta and Paolo Caiazzo, who according to the miniteca account were students when they put the rig together. Its visual seal was the booth cabinet with the New York skyline, an unmistakable front that went with it into halls, clubs and open-air stages, topped on its luminous pieces with the signature “la Auténtica.”
Between 1985 and 1986 the skyline booth made it to television: the crew set up its cabinet on the set of “El Show de Fantástico.” In 1986 its name was also pressed into vinyl: it was one of the six Caracas minitecas gathered on the LP “Caracas 750,” the compilation of the station that programmed them, with its own entry in this Archive's Discography. And at the end of the 80s Carlos Visconti joined to reinforce the crew, with the aim of expanding the coverage areas of its services.
