Carlos Dickson
The sampler of Hot Music and Tridimensión
Discjockey (now DJ) and, above all, sampler player: one of the hands behind the live sonic identity of two of the most feared minitecas in Venezuela —Hot Music “La Fuerza” and Tridimensión—. He is still active in the booth today.

The man with the sampler
At a time when most discjockeys measured themselves on the turntables, Carlos Dickson specialized in the sampler: the instrument that fired off effects, stingers, jingles and hits live to give the show identity and surprise. With a keyboard and an AKAI sampler in front of him, he was part of the “played in real time” sound that set the great Venezuelan minitecas apart.
Hot Music “La Fuerza”: the second generation
His name is tied to Hot Music's second stage. At the end of 1986, when Enrique Rojas and the crew coming from Energía retired, Abilio de Abreu came in: with his capital, Hot Music grew to an imposing level in sound and lighting and earned the nickname “La Fuerza”. On that renewed roster Carlos Dickson appears as DJ and sampler player, as is on record in Hot Music's own history collected in this archive.
