The story

He started out as a sound and lighting installer, and his curiosity soon led him to explore mixing, perfecting synchronization techniques that surprised for their precision and creativity at a time when few had mastered that art.

His first formal venture was Miniteca Star Cruiser, which he founded together with his brother Carlos Rojas and his brothers in life Carlos Luis Valenzuela and Carlos Simoza. In March 1979, Star Cruiser debuted as a miniteca at the fifteenth-birthday party of a friend from the neighborhood, and that was the test that was missing to begin this adventure into a world that, familiar as it was from the audience's side, was unknown from the promoter's. Almost immediately the project would evolve into the remembered Miniteca Energía of Los Olivos. In 1980 he joined, with his whole crew, the emblematic Infierno Sweet, founded and run by José Gregorio Bello “Goyito,” where he debuted as lead discjockey (now DJ). There, alongside Carlos Luis Valenzuela (today one of the resident DJs of CMTK Radio), he developed an innovative style: cross-genre mixes running from high energy to salsa, merengue or even folk pieces such as “Moliendo Café,” always in perfect tonal harmony.

With Infierno Sweet he won his first guerra de minitecas —the sound clashes of the movement— at the Hermandad Gallega in Puerto Ordaz in 1983. In 1984 he was part of the alliance with Hot Music, again together with his Infierno Sweet crew, a project that would mark a before and after in the scene of Ciudad Guayana and the east of the country. In 1984, alongside Luis “Wicho” Yépez, he pulled off a historic feat by winning two sound clashes on the same weekend, surprising everyone with three turntables running at once, a technique he had already brought from Infierno Sweet, where he used 4 turntables simultaneously.

Enrique stepped away from the scene at the end of 1986, and his crew with him, making room for new generations at Hot Music such as Abilio de Abreu. Shortly afterwards he took part independently in the first Festival de Disc Jockeys at the Club Ítalo Venezolano, taking first place together with Jorge “Manota” Pacheco (today known as DJ Voodoo). Although he formally retired, he came back sporadically as a hobby, including three editions of the Fiesta Retro 80 in the Los Olivos neighborhood at the end of the first decade of the 2000s.

In parallel he drove the family project The One, conceived as a space for learning and a stage for his sons Ángel Manuel and José Ángel Rojas. Now settled in Orlando, Florida, he consolidated his business career and in 2025 actively took up his cultural legacy again with the creation of CulturaMiniteka.com and CMTK Radio, non-profit platforms devoted to documenting the true musical and cultural history in which the founding minitecas developed and to putting faces to those who forged a movement that defined an entire generation.
