First steps: Jackie O and Canto del Cisne

In 1981, Edgar was working as a discjockey (now DJ) at the discotheque Jackie O in the Centro Comercial Parque Aragua, a well-known private club in Maracay. It was there that he met Alversid (Ilardo Audio Systems), a young seller of imported records, who invited him to join the miniteca Canto del Cisne. From that invitation on, Edgar began a stage of intensive rehearsal that led them to win multiple competitions known as “guerras de minitecas,” the sound clashes of the movement, turning Canto del Cisne into one of the most prestigious mobile discotheques in Aragua and in Venezuela.

In his own words, those first years forged his style and his confidence, and he thanks the collaborators, friends and family who drove his career at the start. That formative stage was key both to his professional development and to his connection with the community of discjockeys and music promoters.

Magic Mezclas 2: the phenomenon and his part in it

Edgar Pacheco's work is credited as DJ Mix on the vinyl edition Magic Mezclas 2, a production that brought together hits of the 80s mixed to offer a continuous experience. That edition was released under the Magic Mezclas series and has become, in compilations and collectors' accounts, an emblematic LP among the mix records of Venezuela.

The idea of mixing tracks with narrative intent —beyond the simple transition between songs— translated into a format that broke with the dance-floor-only experience and took it into the home and into personal collections.

Beyond vinyl: production and creative roles

Besides his work as a DJ, Edgar has built a career in audio and video production, composition and musical arrangement, musical direction and performance as a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. That versatility is reflected both on his Instagram and in his presence on Threads, where he posts content related to his audiovisual career and his artistic experiences.

Edgar also runs an educational platform in professional audio, where he shares knowledge of sound production, mixing and recording techniques through his professional audio school. That teaching side complements his career as an artist and producer.
