On the mass stages

In 1979, Oscar Hernández took part in the Primera Guerra Nacional de Minitecas —the movement's first national sound clash— at the Poliedro de Caracas, organized by Enrique Hoffman and Musiuito Lacavalerie. There he performed live before 16,000 people and was part of the jury charged with selecting the minitecas that would represent each state of the country.

Discotheques and projects

During the 80s, Oscar worked in well-known venues such as Krazy Club (1980–1981) and Mayfair Station (1981–1983), and was a special guest at the opening of Baci in Puerto Ordaz (1982). He was also part of the staff of the emblematic New York, New York (1983–1987), owned by Carlos Almenar and Omar Medina.

In parallel he founded La Galería del Rock in the Centro Comercial Plaza, Villa Mediterránea, a pioneering space specializing in rock. His experience led him to work directly with labels such as Lime Light Records and Beta Records, consolidating his role as a discjockey, a producer and a point of reference of the Venezuelan music scene.

Legacy and farewell

Oscar Hernández not only defined an era in the miniteca and discotheque scene in Venezuela; he also left an invaluable recorded legacy. His innovative style, his technical discipline and his cultural vision made him a point of reference for the DJs and producers who came after him.

In 2014, Venezuela said farewell to this icon of mixed music. His legacy lives on in his productions, in the memories of those who saw him onstage and in the historical memory of the miniteca movement.
