What is on record
In 2016, interviewed by tusdj.com, Víctor Méndez did the math himself: twenty-eight years working the night. That places his beginnings around 1988, and his list of venues confirms him as a bedrock resident of the Caracas rumba: La Belle Epoque, Maroma, El Teatro, Shampan and So Club, among “an immense list”.
His other home is radio: he is the voice and host of “De Rumba” on Hot 94.1 FM, a show that by then had spent some twenty years on air combining the best of electronic music and rock — his two declared passions as a DJ. A 1998 recording of the show already registers him at that microphone alongside Christopher Pulgar.
