What is on record

Amaury José Díaz worked for years at Radio Capital 710 and at Radio Tropical 910 AM, and won numerous awards for his professionalism and his creativity in the media. In the trade he was known as “El Tío Amaury.”

That nickname came from his best-remembered work: “Mundo Infantil del Tío Amaury,” a children's slot that moved from radio to television and became a favorite of Caracas children in the seventies and eighties, accompanied by the character Ardillín. At Radio Capital he crossed paths with Napoleón Bravo, Iván Loscher, Cappy Donzella and Alfredo Escalante — the five of them appear together in the two team photographs that accompany this entry.

He died on February 12, 2018.
