The early days

Carlos “Caco” Hernández passed his announcing exam on December 6, 1986 and obtained Certificado de Locutor N.º 13.861 from the MTC. He was already in front of a microphone before that credential: he worked at the in-house audio station of the Centro Comercial Trébol in Puerto Ordaz, the informal school where his voice was seasoned.

Radio Sur: the broadcasting debut

His entry into the world of broadcasting came at Radio Sur 1530 AM, in April 1987, covering a vacation for the announcer Alfonso Vallés. It was a youth-oriented station run by Jesús Rafael “Jerals” Sifontes — the same Radio Sur the Archive documents as an unconditional ally of miniteca culture in Guayana. He stayed there a year and four months.
