Jesús Leandro is an announcer with a career spanning more than fifty years in Venezuelan radio. His Certificado de Locutor (N° 4.752) is a testament to his dedication and his professionalism. With a vibrant voice and a solid style, he has been one of the most recognized voices in national and international media.

The beginnings

He began his career at Radiodifusora Venezuela on the 790 AM dial, a station where he stayed from 1968 until 1991. From that period comes his stint as star presenter on Éxitos 1090.

A pioneer on FM

In 1988 he became the first Venezuelan announcer to go on the air on frequency modulation (FM), with the launch of La Mega 107.3 FM, a station where he stayed until 1992, at the height of the youth boom.

Involvement with the minitecas

He took an active part as a voice over and host at emblematic events such as the first Guerra de Minitecas — the sound clashes of the movement — at the Poliedro de Caracas, where he hosted from the stage. He also recorded jingles for minitecas in different regions, such as the first generation of Hot Music in Ciudad Guayana, and others in the interior of the country.

Appearances and concerts

He has been chosen to present concerts by international figures who performed in Venezuela, among them Peter Frampton, Gloria Gaynor, KC and the Sunshine Band and other luminaries of the global music scene.

His current program

With more than 51 years of career behind him, he currently hosts the program Ciclo Pop, broadcast Monday to Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Play 95.5 FM. His voice also identifies the baseball team Tiburones de La Guaira and the basketball team Cocodrilos de Caracas.

Legacy

Jesús Leandro is a byword for perseverance, professionalism and versatility. His voice has marked several generations, and his work is required reference for announcers and hosts. His presence on the radio, in jingles, in promos and at events makes him one of the greats of broadcasting in Venezuela.
