Planeta DJ is a contemporary Venezuelan digital outlet —not a period archive— devoted to the scene of the minitecas and the discjockeys (now DJs), with a stamp especially tied to the east of the country. In its own pieces it identifies itself as “Planeta DJ Venezuela” on Facebook and as “Planeta DJ TV Cumaná” on YouTube, which anchors the brand to Cumaná, Sucre state.
Its characteristic contribution is the first-hand interview: conversations with miniteca owners, discjockeys and hosts in which the protagonists themselves tell their story. That kind of testimony —the direct voice of those who made the rumba— makes it valuable as a documentary source and as an ally of the miniteca movement.
