Behind every miniteca record that played at a rumba there was a record machine that pressed it, promoted it and placed it on the radio. Enzo Cassella was one of those invisible pieces: he did not appear on stage or work a turntable, but from the offices of the Venezuelan labels he helped build the infrastructure that made possible the music that defined an era.
A career in the industry
Cassella started out at the end of the 70s as an operator and radio producer at Radio Tropical 990 AM, in downtown Caracas, and then as producer of the program “2001 Musical” on Televisora Nacional (Canal 5). From there he moved into the record business:
