José Gómez

Sandy Lane's chief utility man

Transport coordinator, lighting technician, audio technician and discjockey (now DJ) whenever it was needed. His jeep and the trailer he found moved the miniteca across half the country.

Of the original group

José Manuel Gómez F. came into Sandy Lane with the first intake, together with Jorge Andrés Neher A., when the miniteca still fit into a small booth cabinet and played at friends' parties.

The one who did everything

His companions describe him as the chief utility man: he took on every possible role —transport coordinator, lighting technician, audio technician and discjockey when necessary— and all of them, they say, in the best possible way.

His most material contribution was the one that sounds least and weighs most: transport. His jeep became part of the organization's indispensable assets, and it was he who found the miniteca's first stable means of transport, the Sandy Lane trailer. Without that there are no tours to the interior, and without tours there is no Domo Bolivariano, no Puerto Ordaz, no San Cristóbal.
