Beginnings and first appearances

Super Volumen is remembered as one of the pioneering minitecas of Venezuela. Its name was inscribed in history by its participation in the Primera Guerra de Minitecas —a guerra de minitecas, the sound clashes of the movement— held on July 1, 1979 at the Poliedro de Caracas, an event that changed the course of this cultural movement forever.

The first Guerra de Minitecas

In that first edition, organized as part of the 25th anniversary of the Colegio San Agustín del Paraíso, eight minitecas selected from among more than sixty hopefuls faced each other. The jury was made up of well-known voices such as Jesús Leandro, Carlos Alejandro Ball, Enrique Hoffman and Marcos Antonio “Musiuito” Lacavalerie. The official result was:

· First place: Crazy Full (Julio La Guardia and “El Perro”), a prize of 3,000 Bs.
· Second place: Explosión (Dante Tulipano, Alejandro De Santis and Toni Zoz), a prize of 2,000 Bs.
· Third place: Super Volumen (Fiorenzo Annarella), a prize of 1,000 Bs.

Legacy and impact

In this first edition at the Poliedro, Super Volumen takes third place, under the direction of Fiorenzo Annarella. With a powerful style and a set of mixes that was daring for the period, it earned the respect of the jury and of the audience.

Although Super Volumen did not go on with the same international projection as other minitecas of the period, its achievement at the first Guerra de Minitecas positioned it as part of the founding history of the movement. Its style, its power and its stage presence made it a point of reference for those golden years.
