A fair night at a fairground: the crowd filling the esplanade in front of a stage with truss, light cannons and smoke, between the sound towers and the tents of the stalls
1 / 2

Present-day images of a fairground contributed to the CMTK Archive. ⚠️ The night shot carries the printed logo “Feria Titular San Jacinto 2018”; this Archive has not been able to confirm that it corresponds to the Parque de Ferias de San Jacinto of Maracay (see the note in the article).

The home of the Copas Alpine

The fairgrounds of Maracay, home of the Copas Alpine and described by the magazine as the biggest gathering of minitecas after the Poliedro.

The venue

The Parque de Ferias de San Jacinto is an extensive fairground in Maracay, in Aragua state. Its exhibition pavilion works as a space for exhibitions, spectacles and great events of the center of the country. It remains a point of reference for mass activities in the city.

Note on the images of this entry

The two photographs that illustrate it show a fairground in activity —the esplanade at night in front of the stage and the same space by day, with the tents set up—, and they serve to give an idea of the scale of a fairground on a day of spectacle.

A warning is in order, however: the night shot carries printed in one corner the logo “Feria Titular San Jacinto 2018”. The formula “feria titular” is the one used in Guatemala and Central America for patron-saint festivals —there are municipalities called San Jacinto in Guatemala, Nicaragua, Mexico and Colombia—, so this Archive has not been able to confirm that the image corresponds to the Parque de Ferias de San Jacinto of Maracay. It is published with that doubt declared, not as a document of the Aragua venue. If anyone recognizes the place —one way or the other—, their contribution settles the entry.
