Themed parties and the Sunday matinees

What made the Club Regine memorable were its themed parties —in the style of the great clubs— and, above all, its famous Sunday matinees. On those Sunday afternoons many of the minitecas of the area performed, which turned the Regine into a key meeting point for the mobile sound scene of Puerto Ordaz and into a showcase for the Guayana crews.

“El lugar de moda en Puerto Ordaz”

José Luis Simoza himself publicly fixed a date for the club's moment of splendor. Recalling it on his social media forty years later, he wrote that on June 29, 1979 the fashionable place in Puerto Ordaz was the Regine's Private Club, and he asked his followers who had lived through it.

His testimony supplies two things the entry did not have: a concrete date of activity —June 1979, that is, that the club was already in full operation at the end of the seventies— and the way its own people wrote the name, “Regine's Private Club”.
