The club of the Simoza brothers

The Club Regine was a discotheque in Puerto Ordaz run by the businessman Oscar Simoza, brother of the announcer José Luis Simoza —one of the voices of Guayana radio, with his own entry in the Voices collection of this Archive—. While José Luis supplied the voice, Oscar supplied the business: the venue operated on carrera Guasipati, in the basement of a building in the center of the city.

Its name was inspired by the legendary Club Régine of Paris —that of the nightlife entrepreneur Régine Zylberberg—, although it bore no further relation to it: it was a nod to the glamour of that international nightlife brand.
