David Carpio «Mr Boogie»
Discjockey of the 750 and tambora player of Los Guayacuchos
Discjockey from Puerto Ordaz: he was part of the staff of the Miniteca 750 in the 80s and 90s and is the tambora player of the gaita group Los Guayacuchos. He is part of the CMTK Radio team and of the Carpio family of the Guayana scene.

In the booth of the Miniteca 750
David Carpio, known as “Mr Boogie”, was part of the discjockey staff of the Miniteca 750 —from Ciudad Guayana, Bolívar state— during the eighties and nineties. The 750, created by Juan Carlos “Tungo” García, has an entry of its own in the MiniTK Archive; Carpio was one of the hands that sounded in its booth in that period.
Tambora player of Los Guayacuchos
His other musical life is percussion: David Carpio is the tambora player of the gaita group Los Guayacuchos, an ensemble from Puerto Ordaz that in 2023 celebrated its 50 years (1973–2023) under the motto “la propia gaita”. That side of him connects him with the other great sound tradition of Venezuelan Guayana, the gaita, beyond the booth of the minitecas.
