The guerras de minitecas —the sound clashes of the movement— were lived through only once and went out with the lights of the Poliedro. What survived of those nights survived thanks to the people who wrote them down and photographed them. Gonzalo González Muñoz is one of those hidden figures: he did not set up rigs or host from the stage, but he preserved for collective memory the account of a founding milestone.
The 1979 chronicle
In “La Revista de las Minitecas” (DJ Vladimir Medina Edition), the report on the Primera Guerra de Minitecas —held on Sunday, July 1, 1979 at the Poliedro de Caracas— is signed like this: “Historia narrada y escrita por Gonzalo González Muñoz. Fotografías: Gonzalo González Muñoz.” That is to say, one and the same person acted as chronicler and as photographer of the event that laid the foundations of the contemporary miniteca movement.
