Cerebro

«We began to venture into other cities, and at the parties there were people from the advertising and entertainment world who asked me where we were from. I answered: from San Juan de los Morros. They would not believe it, they thought we were from Caracas or Valencia.»

Trajectory

From the mid-80s on, contacts in the business began placing them in face-offs with other front-line minitecas of the era: Infierno, ZC, La Máquina and Sandy Lane, among the biggest names of the time. In those same years it shared the regional scene with crews such as Pentágono (which appeared around 1984) and Rapsodia.

Miniteca Cerebro played with artists such as Miguel Moly, Roberto Antonio and Óscar D'León, as well as local groups, and lent its sound to numerous charity and community events — the Sociedad Anticancerosa, the Fundación del Niño and others — both in the Guárico capital and beyond it.

In its technical search, Cerebro ran thousands of tests as the technology changed. Along the way they met sound engineer Rafael Pedrique, who advised them and introduced them to amplifiers of a new technology that few had at the time. Many discjockeys passed through the miniteca, from San Juan de los Morros and from outside it, but the star was Osvaldo, who stayed until the end and then decided to leave for study reasons.

Awards and discography

At the time of the original article, Cerebro was on hiatus in the custody of a former discjockey, Ibrahim Domínguez, with the expectation of coming back out with new technology.

• · They cut a record titled Invasión de Minitecas, on the Magic Record's label, taking part in the album of the best minitecas of Venezuela. The LP came out in 1986, mixed by Oscar Hernández, and on its back cover thanks twelve minitecas from all over the country along with where each one came from; it names Cerebro as the one from San Juan de los Morros.
