The venue

The complex the magazine refers to as “Complejo Naciones Unidas” corresponds to the Parque Naciones Unidas, in the parish of El Paraíso, west of Caracas. Its main covered facility is the Gimnasio José Beracasa —named that way in 1983 in honor of José Beracasa Amrán, president of the Organización Deportiva Panamericana—, with a capacity close to 5,000 spectators. It is a multipurpose space administered by the State through the Instituto Nacional de Deportes, home of teams such as Cocodrilos de Caracas (basketball) and the setting for sporting events and spectacles.

The magazine names it “Complejo Naciones Unidas”; the documented name of the venue is Parque Naciones Unidas (with the Gimnasio José Beracasa as its main covered hall). The magazine's name is kept as the title because it is the one used in the movement, and the correspondence is clarified.

The magazine cites it as the home of Explosiones de Minitecas and places there the first place won by the miniteca ZC. On those nights the booths were lined up on the gymnasium stage —among them New York New York, with its Manhattan skyline, and The Lechuga's—, presided over by a large ZC panel with its motto “es control total”.

The date is given by the gymnasium's own banners: at the back one reads “Año Inter[nacional de la Ju]ventud” and “Caracas 1985”, alongside one for “La Victoria 1814”. The image is, therefore, from 1985 — the year this Archive documents in the entry “1985: Explosión de Minitecas (Naciones Unidas)”, held on October 19 and won by ZC. The material arrived labeled “2005”; the label is corrected by what the banners say.

What is still missing is the fine detail: the complete bill of participants of that night, the order of the prize-giving and the dates of the rest of the Explosiones held at the venue.
