On October 19, 1985, at the Parque Naciones Unidas in Caracas and before more than 10,000 people, ZC “la del control total” was crowned in one of the most remembered guerras de minitecas — the sound clashes of the movement — of the capital, ahead of Sound Crazy and Sound Line.

What is on record (according to the original poster)

That night ZC put on a performance that stayed in the movement's memory: three discjockeys (now DJs) mixing in the booth, close to 80 tracks in some 20 minutes on eight Technics 1200 MkII turntables, with the lighting raised to about 14 meters. The victory reinforced its motto “control total,” recorded into the jingles of the period.

· Venue: Parque Naciones Unidas, El Paraíso, Caracas.
· Occasion: “celebrar el 1er Aniversario de la Explosión de Minitecas — la competencia más explosiva del 85” (to celebrate the first anniversary of the Explosión de Minitecas — the most explosive competition of '85), Copa Año Internacional de la Juventud.
· Ticket: Bs. 50.
· Bill announced (poster): New York-New York, Fahrenheit, Magique, Sound Line, Ambitus, Infierno, Lightning, Dislike, Rainbow, Sky Way, Savannah, ZC and The Lawers, plus “la Guerra de las Debutantes.”
· Attendance: more than 10,000 people.
· Podium (according to the Minitecas TV video): 1st ZC “la del control total,” 2nd Sound Crazy, 3rd Sound Line.

Chronological note: why 1985 and not 1986

The first-person account of Ángel Matt — discjockey of ZC — places this Naciones Unidas victory around 1986, alongside other milestones of the golden era of the miniteca; hence one sometimes reads “1986.” The dated evidence, however, points to two distinct and consecutive triumphs that memory tends to merge.

(1) This Explosión at the Parque Naciones Unidas took place on Saturday, October 19, 1985. It is fixed definitively by the ORIGINAL POSTER of the event, which prints “Parque Naciones Unidas, El Paraíso · Sábado 19 de Octubre 85 · 8:00 p.m.” and announces it as the “1er Aniversario de la Explosión de Minitecas.” It is backed further by four independent sources: the dated set by ZC's own discjockey Luis Atilio Alfonzo (“Naciones Unidas de Caracas, 19 de octubre de 1985”); the archive video of the event titled “ZC — Explosión de Minitecas — Año: 1985”; the audiovisual record “Explosión de minitecas 1985 en las Naciones Unidas de Caracas” circulated by DJ Grego; and the Minitecas TV documentary video, which dates it to 1985. (Note: one poster in the archive was labeled “19-11-85”; the month printed on the piece is October.)

(2) The Frailejón de Oro that ZC won in 1986 was in the city of Mérida (best DJ, lighting, sound and miniteca) — a different event and a different place. That, and not Naciones Unidas, is the “1986” that appears in Ángel Matt's own article. No separate Naciones Unidas event is on record for 1986; both milestones are documented separately.

The poster's bill vs. the video's participants

The bill announced on the poster and the minitecas documented by the Minitecas TV video do not match entirely — something common between what is announced and what finally takes the stage. The poster announces Infierno, Lightning, Dislike, Rainbow and Sky Way, which do not appear in the video's record; and the video names Sound Crazy, Line Music, Bell Music and Hot City, which do not appear on the poster. New York-New York, Fahrenheit, Magique, Sound Line, Ambitus, Savannah, ZC and The Lawers appear on both. Both lists are left as they are, without merging them.
