What is on record

Leonel Rojas Fernández is co-founder and discjockey of the miniteca Holiday (Ciudad Guayana, Bolívar state, founded from 1987 onward), alongside his brother Iván Rojas “Peluretro”. The magazine names him among Holiday's owners and directors and among its discjockeys of the 80s and 90s. It is confirmed by the CMTK Archive that the Rojas brothers founded and played in the miniteca, documented with an entry of its own in the MiniTK Archive.

Note on shared names

In the MiniTK Archive there is another discjockey called Leonel Rojas: the one from the miniteca Betelgeuse, in Caracas, with an entry of his own in this same collection. They are two different people. The one in this entry is Leonel Rojas Fernández, from Ciudad Guayana, co-founder of Holiday and brother of Iván Rojas “Peluretro”; the other is the Leonel Rojas of Betelgeuse. The two entries are kept separate and are not merged.

The brand worn on him

Decades after the sound clashes he is still where he has always been: behind the equipment, and with the brand worn on him — the cap lettered “HOLIDAY” in yellow letters and the shirt embroidered “Leonel Rojas DJ”, the same brand he founded with his brother.

He carried the trade of the miniteca booth on into the era of professional sound, running things from large-format digital consoles under the marquee at events. And the scene went on meeting up: among his companions of those years are Carlos Dickson and the discjockeys of ZC.
