· Date: Friday, October 19, 1984, 7:30 p.m. (October 19, 1984 was indeed a Friday).
· Venue: Poliedro de Caracas.
· Event: “Explosión de Minitecas,” in aid of the Fundación “Orfeón Universitario.”
· General admission: Bs. 40 (ticket No. 06306, stamped by the Dirección de Liquidación de Espectáculos Públicos).
· Bill of seven minitecas: Sandy Lane · Betelgeuse · New York-New York · Ambitus · Traffis · The Drop · Space Music.

The participants

Five of the seven already have their own entry in the MiniTK Archive: Sandy Lane, Betelgeuse, New York-New York, Ambitus and The Drop — all established names of the Caracas scene of the eighties. The other two, Traffis and Space Music, appear here confirmed by the ticket as real participants of the night, but their biography (owners, equipment, discjockeys (now DJs) and trajectory) is yet to be documented.

Not to be confused with the other “Explosiones”

The name “Explosión de Minitecas” was repeated at several events of the period. This one of October 19, 1984 at the Poliedro is distinct from: (1) the “Explosión de Minitecas” of 1980, the Cuarta Guerra del Poliedro; and (2) the “Explosión de Minitecas” of October 19, 1985 at the Parque Naciones Unidas, won by ZC “la del control total.” Those of 1984 and 1985 share the day (October 19) but belong to different years, venues and bills — they must not be merged.

The ticket confirms the date, the venue, the charitable cause and the bill of seven minitecas, but the winner, the panel of judges, the prizes, the discjockeys and the musical act of that night are missing.
