What is on record
Yumbo was Rubén Guevara's miniteca; in the scene he was known as “Pescuezo” — that is what they called him at the club La Lechuga in Caracas. Its booth was a white two-piece console with the name lettered on a light box across the front.
His personal archive keeps two documents from the Comité Pro-Graduación of the Colegio San Agustín, the committee that organized the Primera Guerra de Minitecas of July 1979: the letter with which the committee summoned the minitecas to a meeting, signed by its six members, and the numbered card with which its chairman notified their performance slot by hand.
It took part in the Tercera Guerra del Poliedro, held at the Poliedro de Caracas on 15 February 1980 (7:30 p.m., with Oscar D'León and La Crítica on stage, sponsored by Caracas 750, under the motto “Buscando la mejor miniteca de Venezuela”), alongside Erotic Soul, White Point, Oxígeno, Jungle, Master West and Xenón. Xenón won it, with White Point second and The Bunching third; there is no record of Yumbo reaching the podium.
