What we know so far
Magique was born in the 1980s, “the best era of the minitecas,” and earned itself a place in the Venezuelan miniteca movement. La Revista de las Minitecas records it in one image accompanied by a short, affectionate write-up.
According to the magazine's write-up, Magique won many festivals and guerras de minitecas —the sound clashes of the movement— thanks to an original style and a marked leaning toward heavy rhythms. The publication itself sums up the affection it stirred in a single sentence: “everyone who was able to enjoy its shows carries it in their heart.”
It was a Caracas miniteca, and the founding chronicle of the scene counts it among the crews “of great renown” that emerged after Gipsy, the pioneer, alongside names such as Kisses Acetatos, Saxon, The Lawyers, Canto del Cisne and Empire.
