When Venezuelan rock said thank you to the voices
In January 2019 the Salón de la Fama del Rock de Venezuela honored a first list of radio announcers; seven of them already live in the MiniTK Archive

A document signed in Barquisimeto on 5 January 2019 put in writing something miniteca culture knew perfectly well: without the radio announcers, that music would have reached nobody. On the list are names this Archive has spent months documenting.

The document is plain: a sheet with the logo of the Salón de la Fama del Rock de Venezuela, its address in Santa Rosa —Barquisimeto, Lara state— and a date, 5 January 2019. The title announces the “Entrega de Reconocimientos del Salón de la Fama del Rock de Venezuela en su Primera Clase. Mención Radiodifusión y Locución. Lista 1” — the institution's first class of awards, in its broadcasting and announcing category. It is signed by Peterson Petersen, CEO and founder of the institution.
The reason the Salón itself gives for starting with the announcers is the one any minitequero would have given: radio was the first medium to achieve closeness with its audience, and those who identified with an era and with the rock and pop genres will always have something to thank those voices for.

Seven of those honored already live in this Archive
The list —“Parte 1”— gathers more than sixty names in three columns. Cross-checking it with the MiniTK Archive turns up an overlap that says a great deal about how intertwined radio and the minitecas were: seven of those recognized already have their entry among our Voces.
- Gustavo Pierral — the voice of “Disco Fiebre”, the program that in 1977 took the minitecas to national television.
- Jesús Leandro — whose identity was confirmed in the Archive by the Certificado de Locutor N.º 4.752 cited in his own article.
- Marco Antonio Lacavalerie “Musiuito”.
- Porfirio Torres — the same one from “Nuestro Insólito Universo”.
- Ramón Mata — one of the protagonists of the 1985 radio record at Caracas 750.
- Tinedo Guía.
- Enrique Hoffman.
And others we still owe
The same list includes major voices of Venezuelan radio and television that this Archive has not yet documented: César Miguel Rondón, Napoleón Bravo, Oswaldo Yepes —the director under whom Gustavo Pierral debuted at Radio Capital—, Luis Chataing, Kristina Wetter, Guillermo Carrasco, Horacio Blanco, Iván Loscher, Jacques Braunstein, Alfredo Escalante, Clemente Vargas Jr., Félix Allueva and Willy Perroni, among others. They are noted down as pending.
The Salón closes its sheet with a caveat that we share here word for word in method: it acknowledges that a work like this is not free of omissions or errors, and invites people to join in with direct contributions or constructive criticism. That is exactly the way the MiniTK Archive grows.
The photograph
The image accompanying this article brings together fourteen Venezuelan radio announcers: eight standing and six seated. From the caption that reached the Archive we know only the names of the seated ones, and in this order, from left to right: Joffre Maestracci, Jesús Leandro, Adicson Lara, el Pelón Marín, Musiuíto Lacavalerie and Enrique Hoffman.
We do not know at what event it was taken or in what year, so we do not claim to. If you recognize any of those standing, or remember the occasion, write to us: those are the details that turn a beautiful photograph into a document.
